A panda in a suit, a cigar in the corner of his mouth and a crew of animals with zero interest in bamboo. Boss Bear from Push Gaming is the sequel to Big Bamboo, only relocated from a peaceful forest to some very shady backstreets.
As always, we have dug up where the RTP is actually highest, and on this game the gap between casinos is wider than usual.

The RTP levels in Boss Bear
The top setting sits at 96.47%, comfortably above average for a modern slot. The catch is that Push Gaming also offers 95.45%, 94.35%, 90.36% and 88.27%, and the casino picks which one you get.
That is a spread of more than eight percentage points. Not a rounding error, but the difference between a long evening and a bankroll that vanishes at record speed.
Switch on Push Bet and your stake rises by 20% while your chance of triggering free spins improves. On the top setting the RTP then climbs to 96.53%, a small freebie for anyone who was raising the bet anyway.
How far your bankroll stretches
Curious how much a poor RTP setting really eats out of your budget? We have crunched the numbers below.

The bonus buys have their own RTP
There are three options: a random free spins trigger for 100x the bet (96.40%), a full screen Golden Reveal for 300x (96.71%) and free spins triggered by five scatters for 600x (96.81%).
Fun detail: the pricier buys actually pay back better than the base game. Unusual, and worth filing away.
How Boss Bear plays
The grid runs across 5 reels holding 6 symbols each, with 50 fixed paylines. Wins land from three matching symbols leftward, except the panda and the wild, which already pay from two.
Stakes run from $0.10 up to $100 per spin, so cautious spinners and full throttle gamblers both get a seat at the table.

Reveal, Golden Reveal and the Coin Feature
Reveal symbols drop in stacks and all flip to the same symbol, sometimes the panda, which is exactly the moment you stop breathing.
When Reveal symbols cover three neighbouring reels they turn into Golden Reveals and the Coin Feature kicks off. Every position becomes a coin spinning through prizes worth up to 1,000x, occasionally joined by multipliers of 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x, collector symbols and nudge symbols that stretch the stack across the full reel.
Free spins and the gamble
Three scatters award 7 spins, four give 8 and five give 9. Land three or four scatters and you can gamble those spins for a better outcome, though a failed gamble costs you the whole bonus.
During free spins, collected scatters strip low paying symbols off the reels. Each one removed adds spins and bumps the multiplier to 2x, 3x, 5x and finally 10x. That is where the serious money hides.
Push Gaming behind Boss Bear
Push Gaming is the studio behind Boss Bear as well as Jammin' Jars and Big Bamboo, with a soft spot for high volatility and chunky mechanics. From an RTP perspective they are among the industry's moodiest studios, offering five different settings per game.
Our take on the game
We like Boss Bear a lot. The attitude is spot on, the soundtrack of gongs and gunshots nails the mood, and the Coin Feature delivers a proper pulse spike when the third reel is about to land.
The downsides are the high volatility and that enormous RTP spread. If you end up on 88.27%, it really does not matter how handsome the panda looks.
