RTP and why your casino choice matters
The default RTP on Area Link Piggy Bank sits at 96.45%, which is comfortably above the industry norm that tends to hover around 96%. It might not sound huge, but over the long haul every fraction adds up in your balance.
The catch is that the game can ship in several RTP versions, and the casino picks the level. Land on a dialled down variant without realising it and it quietly nibbles away at your bankroll. That is why it pays to play through our list, where you get the top setting.
A fun little stat: the hit frequency is 28.68%, so a win lands roughly every third or fourth spin. Stingy at times, but the piggies can pay you back handsomely once they wake up.
How the game works
Area Link Piggy Bank plays out on 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 fixed paylines, and you win by landing three or more matching symbols from the left. There is no classic free spins round here, instead you get a hold and win mechanic.
The max win is 5,000x your stake, and the game carries four fixed jackpots: Mini (10x), Minor (20x), Major (500x) and Grand (5,000x).
Symbol table
Here is the payout for five matching symbols:
Symbol | 5x |
Dollar Sign (Wild) | 20x |
Diamond | 10x |
Gold Bar | 5x |
Cash Stack | 5x |
Gold Coins | 4x |
Ring | 4x |
9-A (low) | 2x |
The Wild is the dollar sign, it lands stacked across whole reels and substitutes for everything except the coin symbols.
The Area Link feature
The beating heart of the game is Area Link. You collect coloured coins into three piggy banks (red, purple and green) above the reels, and when the feature triggers the coins lock in place and you get 3 respins. Fresh coins reset the counter back to 3.
Which pig sets things off decides your upgrade: red hands out a random multiplier of 2x, 3x or 5x, purple adds an extra reel set, and green lets green coins pay out the combined value of every locked coin. Fill all 15 positions and the Grand jackpot is yours.
The studio
Area Link Piggy Bank comes from Area Vegas, distributed through Games Global. It launched in 2023 and belongs to the studio's Area Link range of hold and win titles, where coins and jackpots are the running theme.
Our take on Area Link Piggy Bank
Pros: a solid RTP at the right casino, four jackpots and an Area Link feature that can get properly juicy with the right pig.
Cons: high volatility and a fairly average base game that mostly waits on the bonus. The theme looks slick but is hardly groundbreaking.
Our feeling: a likeable piggy hold and win slot that lives and dies by its bonus. Crack open the right piggy bank and things can get very tasty.
